(((((Kw13)))) you are so right when you say their own thoughts get lost and the JW nonsense spews forth. Having grown up in this twisted reasoning and seeing the ill effects upon loved ones that were DA'd , I vowed from a young age I would never treat one of my own children that way. To me a mothers love is forever , my kids may do things I don't agree with or like, but I will always love them . I imagine your own mother deep down feels the same. She is just parroting what she thinks she should say. My mother in law shuns her youngest son , and it is killing her because in her heart she knows it is in human. And she now knows this for a fact because I've told her so. No more fake answers and parroted responses from me .When she brings up anything about her son I tell it to her straight that every child deserves a relationship and love and accecptance from their own family. Hopefully it will wake up her instincts because I know they are there under the surface. I truly hope the best to you with your own relationship with your mother.

So i asked her
by KW13 inmum, i said.. "if you were forced to decide, either quit being a witness or your son will die what would you choose?".
she said.. "well, i'd choose jehovah".
i thought she'd attempt to cover it up, maybe say "i don't know" or even shout at me but she answered that, she's confused thinking that pleasing god is being a witness, and i'd have to die because of her beliefs...deep down i knew the answer but it confirmed a few things for me.. i ain't shocked or upset but...if i was in the same situation, i would never ever let someone else suffer what i believe, that isn't just.. but she added something else.

Recovering from Meeting Withdrawl
by Nosferatu inafter i quit going to meetings, tuesdays, thursdays, and sundays felt really strange.
it was so weird having all this time to myself that i never had before.
it took about 1-2 years for me to fully adjust to this new found free time.. anyone else experience this?

I don't know it's getting pretty easy for me . Thursday night is still a little strange felling like I need to be somewhere else . I think we may join the gym and have that night as a work out time. Sunday mornings I now do my cleaning job so I can enjoy the afternoons relaxing . And book study night we found a TV show we like, so yeah we're set.

Wow I just threw away about 60 lbs. of jw literature garbage ! I hope the garbage man doesn't hurt his back . Isn't it wierd I still couldn't get rid of all of it ? I boxed all the bound volumes up form 1974-2005 to put in the garage .They were way to heavy to through out all at once .

Someone else on here can tell you the exact article , the jest of it was : Are pinata's bad ...they use to be used in religious celebrations ect. but now a days people just consider them fun .So since they no longer hold the former general view as something linked to false religion then they are okay to have at a party. The same reasoning goes with windchimes , they used to be viewed as bad and a witness would never have one hanging in their yard ,Why because in some cultures they were used to ward off evil spirits.. Then a few years ago the view was lightened up a bit as that since most people now view them as pretty garden decor we don't necessarily have to avoid having them. So what I'm saying is no one in their right mind see's any connection to birthdays and false religion so should no longer be banned. Same thing with Mother's Day,and Father's Day.

many posters here have vented about their wicked parents.. i think its time we parents have a post dedicated to saying something horrid about our kids.
it maybe something you have wanted to say about them that was in the past or happening now.

VITTY , Come over here and pick up your son , he is living in my house impersonating MY son ......Oh wait a minute.....no I'm wrong this one is mine . It 's just by your discription I thought you were talking about the teenager I live with. He can be so nice to everyone else, but at home he can be a real jerk. Thinks he knows everything ! Will he ever get how much we have done for him ? I swear he doesn't appreciate anything .

What are you doing Memorial Day weekend?
by juni inhopefully it will be a beautiful weekend.
we always get together with our entire family (kids and grandkids) for an all day picnic and fun and then watch the small town parades.
and then this weekend we will be playing "catch-up" with outdoor projects on the house that we couldn't get to because of the rain.

Next Sunday my youngest is graduating High School , Party at our house afterwards. I worked all this weekend getting the gardens,yard, pond and deck looking presentable . I am beat ! ..... 45 isn't suppose to feel this old , is it ?

I work at several jobs during the week. I drive school bus, and am a sales associate at a Gift store /coffee bar . Sometimes I drive a delivery van for a clothing chain in a bi- state area. On the weekends I do Photography , and have an office cleaning job . Some where in there I cook clean and care for my family , which I must say has suffered greatly since I found JWD . In other words the dust bunnies are breeding profously in my house !

When I was 12 years old my brother joined the Marines , because of that they announced at the Kingdom Hall that he had disassociated himself from the congregation. He was 18yrs. old and had not been attending meetings for about a year. We were expected to treat my brother by shunning him . I loved my brother and was worried he might die ......because of my love I continued to write to him .Do you think God disapproved of me for doing that ? The witnesses would. When he finally came home and years later got married I could not attend his church wedding because I would be guilty of associating with a Disassociated person . My conscience plagued me for years for doing that to him because in my heart I knew family should love and support each other no matter what the other persons life choice is .Do you think Jesus was proud of me for going against my conscience ? I don't but according to the witnesses I did the right thing. Now a couple of years ago my mom laid in a hospital bed in a coma with a vent tube stuck in her neck the doctors were telling us she would need to be unplugged soon......Who was there by my side ? was it the witnesses from my hall that knew me the last 27 yrs. Or was it the witnesses from my mom's hall that had known her the past 37 yrs. ? NO , NOT one single one it was my BROTHER !!!! When it really matters he was there for me . So now why do you care what some stranger thinks about your relationship with your family ? If you pursue your study with the witnesses you can count on them destroying your relationships with "worldly" family members . Really think about what YOUR concsience tells you, not anyone else . Read about how Jesus treated the people he met ,the compassion he had for sinners , and ask your self do witnesses really reflect the love of Jesus .

Empty Nest Survival tips?
by serendipity inmy daughter is 17 and it's occurred to me the chick will be leaving the nest in a few short years.
since i'm single, she's the sole focus of my attention at home, and it's hard to deal with her growing up.
it's so hard, that i get teary-eyed just thinking about it, and i'm not generally a weepy woman.. for those of you who have lived through this, how did you cope?

My oldest moved across the country two years ago . I cried for months....i am a big baby though . I then got another part time job - driving school bus- just to fill up my time more .I also started my own business out of my photography hobby . The diversions really helped me when six months later my second son moved three hours away . We call each other alot , and we email and have myspace accounts. I still have days were I am just sick missing them , but I am also so happy to see them making a life of their own. It is fun to learn about their new areas and to visit. My husband and I don't think the youngest son (18) will ever leave !
